RORQUALS - 3 Unreleased Tracks Out Now (Drone, Noise, Ambient, Industrial, Experimental, Electronic)

Back in February of this year I was preparing for my KONSZTRUKTING SOUNDZ gig, and much of the process starts by simply choosing what gear I'm going to be using. I put a set up together and hope for inspiration, and if nothing really materialises or maybe I'm not sure there's enough room for live development / improvisation with that particular set up, I'll try something else.

This process began with an organ based set up using my CasioTone keyboard and Make Noise Strega. I recorded an improvisation and that is the first sample track you can hear - 'Light Within'.

I wasn't totally sold in this set up and then tried using my Make Noise Strega as a sound source, plus some delay and reverb pedals and my Boomerang Looper for layering. Again, I recorded an improv which is the second sample track you can hear - 'Artificial Relevance'.

Once again though, I wasn't feeling it, and ended up plugging a guitar into the Strega set up. This gave me much more versatility and the ability to create more ambient harmonies and melodies which I really enjoyed. I recorded an improvisation once more which is the third sample track of this video - 'Into the Fade'.

It's easy to think that when people say they're improvising that not a great deal of work goes into the preparation, so I thought it would be cool to show that isn't the case. The process of evolution whilst working on ideas with different pieces of equipment can be quite lengthily and sometimes painstaking, but once you hit that sweet spot it's bloody awesome.
