Today we encountered a rare situation, our group decided to clean up the trash and weeds growing wildly on the sidewalk in front of the residential area, to contribute to cleaning the environment and spreading awareness of protecting the common living space. As soon as we started working, an old man about 60 years old came out of the house in front, shook his head and smiled sarcastically and said: "Young people nowadays have so many free things to do. Why bother cleaning up, tomorrow people will litter again, and the grass will grow back like before!". After hearing that, we just smiled lightly and continued working. However, after a while, something that surprised the whole group happened. The old man changed his attitude towards us. When we had just finished the area near his house, he suddenly appeared, carrying sugarcane and food and drinks in his hands. He also gave my group a small amount of 1,000,000 VND (nearly 40 USD), and gently said: "I apologize for what I said earlier. You guys have done something I never thought I could do. Thank you for helping to make this street cleaner." The old man's sincere thanks moved us. It turned out that behind his somewhat gruff exterior was a warm heart. His actions not only motivated me, but also taught me a lesson in patience and the value of doing good deeds, no matter how small.
