Episode 1185

Len (Peter Adamson) waits at the roadworks site to confront Harry Bates (William Simons). Annie (Doris Speed) returns from the brewery but remains frosty towards Billy (Kenneth Farrington). Councillor Warburton (Martin Boddey) goes to see Len at the roadworks site and witnesses him and Harry coming to blows. Ken (Bill Roache) talks down to Rita (Barbara Knox) about her living arrangements with Harry and the effect on the children. Annie is reassured that the Brewery are satisfied with her running the Rovers and she makes up with Billy. When Len returns home battered and bruised, Elsie (Pat Phoenix) once again tries to advise him against getting involved with Rita. He is left feeling conflicted when Rita reveals her true feelings for him. The band meet at the community centre for another rehearsal. Alf (Bryan Mosley) reveals that Len has been reported to the Mayor, Harold Chapman (Frank Crompton).
