In an era where schools ban smartphones and the Australian government attempts to restrict social media access for under-16s, the reality remains that technology’s impact on young people’s lives cannot be solved through prohibition alone.
In this Masterclass, psychologist and former-teacher and school counsellor, Jocelyn Brewer, offers educators a critical alternative: understanding and navigating the complex digital landscape that profoundly shapes student learning, attention, and behavior. Drawing on cyberpsychology research, this session moves far beyond simplistic and binary narratives around teens and tech. Instead, it provides teachers with a nuanced, research-backed approach to understanding how technology intersects with adolescent development.
You’ll gain deep insights into the teen brain’s relationship with digital platforms, learning strategies that go beyond blanket restrictions to truly support students’ digital citizenship capabilities and mental wellbeing. Unlike traditional technology management workshops, this video empowers you with actionable skills to address the root of digital engagement challenges.
