Webb Is Fully DEPLOYED!

The James Webb Space Telescope Has Now Been Fully Deployed. With the deployment of the primary mirrors, experts say that 90% of the dangers have been cleared. The JWST’s Primary Mirror is made up of beryllium, which is both strong and light keeping the overall weight of the telescope to almost half that of Hubble.
Each Of The 18 Hexagonal mirror Segments Needs To Come In perfect alignment for the telescope to focus on a faraway galaxy. The James Webb Space Telescope's 18 special lightweight beryllium mirrors had to make 14 stops to 11 different places around the U.S. to complete their manufacturing.
It will continue to travel to L2 for another 2 weeks to reach its destination almost 1.5 million km away from the earth. To operate, the JWST must reduce its temperature to over -224 C as soon as it reaches L2. The following five months will be used to cool the telescope to operating temperature, fine-tune the mirror alignment, and calibrate the instruments.
Now that the Webb has been fully deployed, getting the mirrors to focus correctly on faraway galaxies is another challenge. For this, each mirror has to be aligned to 1/10,000 of the thickness of a human hair. Engineers and scientists working on the Webb telescope literally had to invent new techniques to do this. The latching of the primary mirror began 13 days after launch, on January 7, 2022.
One of the James Webb Space Telescope's science goals is to look back through time to when galaxies were young. Webb will do this by observing galaxies that are very distant, at over 13 billion light-years away from us.
If anything goes wrong, it’s lost forever. Unlike the Hubble, we would be unable to service a telescope so far away. We hope that Webb Reaches Its Destination Without Any Failures!
