Hospital Bed

Thanks to all at St George's Hospital for looking after me during my knee
replacement surgery: Andrew, Hamish, and the many nurses and support people.



The Hospital Bed (to tune of Grandma's Feather Bed by John Denver)

When I was an older man with walking not so good

Went to Andrew Vincent's rooms every year I could.

We'd have a chat, I'd think it over, "postpone again I said"

And the best damn thing about it was, I'd avoid the Hospital Bed.

It went up and it went down and it could tilt as well

Special buttons to call for help so no one has to yell.

With drips and drains and a squeezing pump, I guess it can be said

I didn't get much sleep but had a lot of fun in St George's Hospital Bed

Finally the time had come, my knee must be corrected.

Propofol, fentanyl, pre-gabalin was injected

The surgical team gathered round and made me feel all cozy

I woke up next in the Hospital bed feeling oh so dozy.

Now its over and coming right and from this place I'll go

Two weeks on crutches, bend the knee and lots of physio
C F C. G7
Thank you all for your lovely care this is what I said.

But the best of all is to get back home out of this Hospital Bed
