DINAGSA FESTIVAL 2018

Dinagsa Festival is always celebrate every 4th Sunday of January.

The Dinagsa is a weeklong celebration with the rhythmic beating of drums and honoring the Señor Sto. Niño (Infant Jesus). Performers are painted in black or covered with soot to portray an “ati” (one of the many indigenous peoples of the Philppines).

The festival is packed with fun activities such as the Dinagsa Queen, the Ati-atihan competition, and the Lamhitanay festival. It's one of the most awaited fiestas in the province of Negros Occidental.

The Lamhitanay is a unique feature of the Dinagsa. All kinds of people (visitors or residents) in Cadiz City roam the streets to smother paint on each other's faces. (So prepare to get dirty, as saying “no” or getting angry at them is taken as an insult! If you don’t like it, better stay at home. This isn't something you experience often, though, so just enjoy the festivities!)

🔴 How to go to Cadiz City from Cebu.
Just ride a ceres bus from North Terminal, you can choose Bacolod via Don Salvador or Bacolod Via Tabuelan. (Everyday trip)

🔴From Manila, you can fly to Bacolod (Php4400++, round trip, 45-55 minutes). From Bacolod-Silay Airport, you can take a shuttle (Php75-100 per head), or a cab (Php400 minimum) to take you to the North Bus Terminal.

Cadiz City is only an hour drive from Bacolod City by private car. If by bus (one-way, 1 hour 15 minutes), You can ride the Cadiz bus at the Bacolod North Terminal going to Cadiz City or buses plying to the North like San Carlos, Dumaguete and nearby municipalities. Cadiz City is also accessible to Cebu via the cities of San Carlos and Escalante. Passenger bus for Cebu also passed by at the bus terminal on scheduled trips.
