In this Fireside Chat, Dr. Dewsbury offers his informed insight on various issues central to the higher education experience. He reflects on various questions from our Pivotal Educators concerning inclusive classrooms and addresses certain expectations which may widen the disconnect between low-income students and their professors.

Dr. Dewsbury received his Bachelors degree in Science from Morehouse College and then both his Masters and PhD degrees in Biology from Florida International University. He is the PI of the Science Education And Society (SEAS) research program where his team explores the social context of teaching and learning from kindergarten to adulthood. His research is funded by the National Science Foundation and the Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner. He is also a fellow with the John N. Gardner Institute where he assists with curriculum design as it pertains to inclusive practices. He conducts faculty development across North America helping institutions of higher education transform their practices toward more equitable outcomes.
