Wallace The Great has become the first half-donkey, half-horse to win a British Dressage competition in the UK, after his owner, Christie McLean, 30, campaigned for mules to be allowed to participate. Earlier this month, British Dressage ruled mules - a hybrid produced from a male donkey and a female horse - should be treated equally. Wallace, 11, was found abandoned in a village in Ireland before he was rescued by the Donkey Sanctuary. He took first place at Summerhouse Equestrian in Gloucestershire, against eight, fully horse competitors.
