Join me for the first half of an out and back 11-mile, 2,104-foot elevation gain ride along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Kaysville, UT.
On a warm August afternoon, I start at the Kaysville Wilderness Park Trailhead and head up to a gravel road that ends at an overlook of Bair Canyon. Turning around, I take the route that passes behind the gun range, where the sound of gunshots can be heard. It’s a bit high-anxiety, but relatively safe, as the trail is situated high above, with little to no risk of incident. After about a mile, the trail merges with the main BST, connecting Wilderness Park, Adams Canyon, and Fernwood trailheads. Roughly a mile north of Fernwood, I enjoy a banana before heading back to the trailhead.
