What happens when you time out in the Japanese version of Mario Kart Arcade GP DX.
All races have a 250 second time limit to finish, but as of the April 21, 2016 update, there is no timer displayed on screen, unless the remaining time is at 10 seconds or less. However, once the 1st place racer finishes (either P1, P2, P3, P4 or a CPU racer), other racers have 15 seconds to finish in races other than VS Race. As of the December 18, 2018 update, VS Races end the instant a winner is declared, so I had to do this in Grand Prix mode. The Time's Up message displays when time expires. In the previous 2 games, Time Up was used instead.
This video also shows what happens if you time out in Grand Prix on the Japanese cabinets, but still make it into the top 3 places. Unlike the previous 2 games, needing to finish is no longer required and that you only need to finish in 3rd place or better. A notable difference is the tips screen showing up even after timing out of a race, which does not happen in the English cabinets. The game still awards Mario Coin based on finish position even if you time out, which also applies in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2.
Competitors in this race: Mario (P1), Luigi (CPU), Bowser (CPU), Yoshi (CPU), Don-chan (CPU), Metal Mario (CPU)
