What does ex-dividend date mean?
1.) If you are looking at stocks to buy or dividend stocks to buy, you might have come across the ex-dividend date. It's not easy to get first what this date means exactly, but here it is explained:
2.) The ex-dividend date shows you what is the date by which you have to own the stock if you want to receive the next dividend payment.
If you want to remember this, here is a rhyme: The ex-dividend rate is the date that is too late (if you want to participate in the next dividend payment.)
3.) You will receive dividends for all the shares that you buy or have bought already before that ex-dividend date.
