In a surprise move, Italy has tonight joined Belgium in its opposition to sending Russia's frozen assets to Ukraine - asking for alternative options at next week's EU leaders summit.
Meanwhile, Brussels was informed tonight that the new us peace deal draft says Ukraine will joint the EU in a year. It is yet another example of the EU on the sidelines being informed about the peace plan - to the extent that their accession decisions are now being dictated by Washington. The timeline is logistically impossible.
