Meniscus is the firm, elastic cushion in the knee joint between the thigh bone and the calf bone. It is essential as a shock absorbent in the knee to minimize the impact of wear and tear. It is commonly injured in younger individuals during sporting activities. The meniscus is also susceptible to degenerative wear and tear among middle age patients. Tears and injuries to the meniscus can cause persistent pain and swelling of the knee. Some patients respond well to non-surgical treatment such as rest, icing and anti-inflammatory medications while others may benefit from more complex and invasive treatments.
Listen to snippets of Dr Lim Chin Tat's public webinar. He will share with you some facts and knowledge regarding meniscus injuries.
