Trying tasty crickets in Chiang Mai's Chinatown

We love our new neighborhood and our favorite restaurants, cafes, and gym that come with it. But after realizing we haven't really left it much lately, we hopped on our scooter and just drove. We end up discovering the Chinatown Night Bazaar, a beautiful riverside walk, and some new foods--including crickets! Known as Jing reed, crickets are a nutritional delicacy in Northeastern Thailand. We learned that eating insects is a normal part of life for many in not just Thailand, but many other countries all over the world. They serve as a food source for over 2 billion people!

And now we know why they're so popular.
