There is a finesse involved with all measurement that a person can develop through their experience as a maker, machinist or engineer that is critical if you desire to be accurate. In this video I explain how to measure with a set of digital micrometers using both digital and analog. I go into some ways that you can make mistakes, and some things to keep in mind when deciding to trust your own measurements.

Measurement is essentially about a comparison of objects to determine fits for components that will provide a function in an assembly of some kind. This is a fancy way to say that you're making parts that are meant to work together in a certain way.
