The best live performance by any band I've seen in my life. I first heard "Come Home" in 1990/91 and from then I was hooked. I was gutted when they split up, thought I'd missed the chance to see them, but when they reformed geographical location or other commitments meant I missed out. Then I hear they are coming to little old Colchester, the place I call home. I've been watching live music since the 70s. This for me was by quite some margin the best all round live performance. I have seen video of Pulp at Brixton Academy 1995, that would have run this really close, but I wasn't there, as much as I wish I was. Same goes for the Levellers at their peak in 94 at Glastonbury. I've seen them twice in Colchester but they aren't what they once were. One thing that struck me was that different light I saw some of James' tracks in. Tunes I wouldn't include among my favourites but ones I'd give a more serious listen to in the future. It's as if seeing those tracks being played live means they make more sense. Anyway, this video is made from the clips taken on the night then cobbled together. The last clip I was recording but had the phone down by my side so all you see is grass and legs, so I layered on top with some images of photos taken that night.
