SRI (system of paddy cultivation) method can reduce the expenses of paddy cultivation and also can increase the production. It is shown that production is increased into double in SRI method from the traditional method. There are six critical steps in SRI method. The critical steps are- Seed sorting & seed treatment, Nursery preparation, land preparation, Fertiliser application, weed control and disease and paste management. Seed sorting and seed treatment should do by the brine water solution method and by adding fungicide. 2-3 kg seed is sufficient for 1acre land cultivation. After eight to twelve the plant is ready for transplantation.
Transplantation is very important critical steps. The line to line distance should be 10 inches and the plant to plant distance should be 10 inches. The distance may be done through line or marker.
You may apply FYM as you apply in traditional method. But fertiliser should apply as per the soil test report. If you are unable to test the soil then apply the fertiliser as per recommendation( N 50kg,P 12kg,and K 12kg. calculation would be DAP 27kg,urea 110 kg,phosphate 75kg, Potash 20kg for 1 acre). Also apply zinc (2gm per ltr ) for two times. One at 30days from transplantation and one 40 days from transplantation). Phosphate and Potash and ¼ of Nitrogen at the time of land preparation and other nitrogen in three times.
