In this excerpt, we discuss the differences between Western depictions of the resurrection vs Eastern Orthodox depictions. One kind of understanding highlights Jesus as an ascending individual waving a flag of victory. Another emphasizes the communal nature of the resurrection: Jesus the "first-fruits" raises us with him. On top of this, we cover what many ancient Jews and Gentiles likely would have thought about all this.
