In this heartfelt, raw and inspiring conversation with Idlebrain Jeevi, actor Thiruveer opens up about his incredible journey—from surviving on pocket-money gigs to becoming one of Telugu cinema’s promising performers.
For pocket money, he even worked as a Radio Jockey at All India Radio for six months before assisting Vennela Kishore on Daughter of Varma.
Thiruveer recalls earning only ₹500–₹1000 performing theatre plays. After returning from a theatre workshop in South Korea, he felt theatre was his true calling. Until 2022, he says he travelled everywhere by bus!
After Masooda, he realised the weight of responsibility - market, openings, theatrical & non-theatrical revenues felt like “a science I didn’t understand.” Being addressed as ‘hero garu’ felt strange and new.
He says many scripts are called comedies but fail to make you laugh. But The Great Pre Wedding Show script felt comforting from beginning to end.
He talks about how he painstakingly practiced the Srikakulam dialect during Palasa, writing every word with a pencil. He opens up emotionally about how his mother saw him on screen, but his father couldn’t. His father once asked, “If people ask what my son does, should I say he performs dramas?”
He discusses:
The difference between theatre acting vs. cinema acting
Practicing dialogues in buses with a handkerchief over his face
Dreaming of sitting in a car one day
How promotions scare him more than Maths & Physics
Why OTT makes him uncomfortable compared to theatres
Hero worship stories - standing in massive queues for Andhrawala, watching Khushi for ₹5
Dreaming to build a career like Rajkummar Rao, Basil Joseph & Vijay Sethupathi
He proudly reveals: “I only know how to act.” No PR, no prepared speeches, no strategy - just pure performance.
✅ Highlights:
Life before cinema: AIR, theatre, struggle
Emotional memories about parents
Comedy vs. genuine writing
Acting journeys by bus, dreaming of a car
Why theatre experience hits differently
Telugu cinema love & nostalgia
Career inspirations
Honest fears about promotions
This interview is a tribute to effort, sincerity, craft and survival. A must-watch for anyone who loves cinema beyond glamour.
