Nationalistische Parteien sind in ganz Europa auf dem Vormarsch, von der deutschen AfD bis zum französischen Rassemblement National, von Ungarn bis Österreich. Sie instrumentalisieren Ängste und spalten die Gesellschaft. Ihr erstes Opfer ist die Freiheit der Kunst.
Unsere Antwort ist Liebe! Daher stehen die Wiener Festwochen 2025 unter dem Motto Republik der Liebe und die RESISTANCE NOW! Debatte ist eine Vorschau darauf. Das Funkhaus spielt dabei eine zentrale Rolle – es wird vom 16. Mai bis 22. Juni 2025 zum Haus der Republik. Die Freie Republik Wien lädt zu künstlerischen Produktionen, Debatten und Partys, Konzerten und Clubnächten in den geschichtsträchtigen wie emotional aufgeladenen 30er-Jahre-Bau. Und der kroatische Philosoph und Aktivist Srećko Horvat wird diese Republik der Liebe mit seiner diskursiv-performativen Reihe Revolutionary Love bereichern.

Nach Stationen in Schweden, den Niederlanden, Belgien, den USA und Serbien landet die Tour jetzt in Wien: Moderiert von Milo Rau, Intendant der Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien, diskutieren Dóra Büki vom ungarischen Proton Theatre, der entlassene Direktor des Slowakischen Nationaltheaters Matej Drlička und der kroatische Philosoph und Aktivist Srećko Horvat, wie wir gemeinsam für Demokratie, Diversität und die Freiheit der Kunst einstehen können.
Auf der RESISTANCE NOW! Tour teilen Vertreter:innen der Institutionen, Künstler:innen und Aktivist:innen ihre Visionen von einer globalen, solidarischen Antwort auf die Gefahren, die vom neuen Nationalismus ausgehen.

Nationalist parties are on the rise across Europe, from the German AfD to the French Rassemblement National, from Hungary to Austria. They instrumentalize fears and divide society. Their first victim is the freedom of art.
Our response is love! That's why the Vienna Festival (Wiener Festwochen) 2025 has the motto Republic of Love and the RESISTANCE NOW! debate is a preview of this. The Funkhaus plays a central role in this – it will become the House of the Republic from 16 May to 22 June 2025. The Free Republic of Vienna invites you to artistic productions, debates and parties, concerts and club nights in the historic and emotionally charged 1930s building. And the Croatian philosopher and activist Srećko Horvat will enrich this Republic of Love with his discursive-performative series Revolutionary Love.
