We've recently acquired this rare A. Schrader's Son Type "E" pump that has been left miraculously untouched for who knows how many decades. This is a 2-cylinder single, action shallow water diving pump, that'll supply air to a diver up to 30 ft. The catalogs tell us that this pump was particularly adapted for water works, examining ship's bottoms, laying pipes, dock and breakwater building, marine railways, etc.
The shipping weight of the pump and box together weigh 175 lbs. and cost $75 in 1911 and the box could be added for an additional $12.50. In 1935 the total price rose to $125. It's unclear when Schrader 1st started producing this style of pump but judging from the serial number and name tag, this pump is from around 1905 when the company became incorporated.
As neat as this pump is, it wasn't popular. After taking it apart and rebuilding it, I can see why; especially comparing it to the Miller-Dunn wobble pumps, that have just about the same air capacity.
