The first line of the Mumbai Metro (Versova-Andheri- Ghatkopar) was launched on 8 June 2014, becoming the city's first metro service and helping to easeMumbai's traffic congestion.
Beginning: June 8, 2014.
Line: Line-1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar).
Operator: MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority)
The Mumbai Metro currently has 4
lines (Blue 1, Red 7, Yellow 2A and
part ofAqua 3) fully operational, and
several more lines (such as 2B, 4, 9)
are under construction, with the aim
of expanding the network to a total of 14 lines by2026
Currently operational lines:
Blue Line 1: Versova to Ghatkopar (oldest line).
Red Line 7: From Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East).
Yellow Line 2A: Dahisar (East) to DN Nagar (Andheri West).
Aqua Line 3 (partially): Cuffe Parade (Colaba) to BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex), and BKC to Aarey section to be commissioned in 2024.
Under Construction & Planned Lines:
Line 2B (Yellow): From DN Nagar to Mandalay (Mankhurd).
Line 4 (Green): Wadala to Kasarvadavli.
Line 9 (Red): Dahisar (East) to Mira-Bhayandar.
In addition, several other lines (such as 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) are also in various stages of planning and construction.
