For decades, the Hazara people have celebrated
Ashura Day in Quetta, Balochistan. The Hazara are
Shia Muslims, and from the start of the month of
Muharram, they engage in charity and niyaz in the
name of Imam Hussain. Every Ashura, the Hazara
people march from Hazara Town and Alamdar
Road toward Meezan Chowk and the bazaar
to show solidarity and pay homage to Imam
Hussain. Each year, government authorities do
their best to provide foolproof security during this
period. The Shia Conference, a community-based
religious organization, also participates in the
preparations for Muharram and Ashura in Quetta.
Wogale Series made significant efforts to cover
the main events of Ashura Day and interviewed
authorities to share their views with our viewers
about Ashura Day's security and the activities of
the people during Ashura 2024.
