A few years back Mark Sagar, of So Cal Stock, brought out this great looking Rebline to show me.
Some history on Steve Buzick and the Rebline pump paintball marker by CAS...
The Rebline was sold by Steve Buzick of Confederate Arm Supplies (CAS) in Southern California, which was a play off Steve's field, Southern Comfort, and his own nickname, "The Colonel." Steve's came from New York so we aren't exactly sure where this title came from and may have just been a play to get more traffic to his field, which was just North of Los Angeles.
The Rebline featured a someone innovative quick disconnect breech but probably the biggest and neatest innovation on the Rebline (aside from the quick disconnect pump arms), were the different bore sizes that Buzick offered for different types of paintballs. I never remember the paint / bore sizing types off hand but the MII and other related to different bores of paint. Sheridan / PMI paint was known as small bore and Nelson / Nelspot paint was known as larger bore.
Steve offered quick change barrels to change between these paints and this was a big hit.
Buzick also offered a unique bolt system, with delrin changeable fronts that featured different inner diameters and different venti patterns.
And while the multiple size bore options did originate with Buzick's CAS line, the design of the Rebline actually originated on the Verbeek brother's VerbeekOlater pump nelspot which featured the same barrel design as the Rebline. The Verbeek brothers played on Sudden Death and worked at Sigma Enginerring. They designed their pump for the 1988 NSG Championships. They didn't foresee small bore paint and Jerry Bard ended up honing their barrels out, making them slightly larger before this tournament which featured not only small paint but freezing cold weather. The top of the line VerbeekOlaters performed poorly overall and Sudden Death soon changed back to Sheridans, which they used in the 1989 Line SI Masters to take 2nd place in the 15 man.
So while it's possible that Sigma (and Randy Christophe of Sigma) created the Verbeek barrel system for Buzick and Wendell / Wintec at Valley Aerospace supplied Buzick with frames, internals and other pieces.
At some point though Buzick's relationship with Wintec soured and actually ended in a fight at Buzick's home that left Buzick in pretty bad shape.
So back to the main subject of this video, the unique bolt.
I've compared this bolt to the bolt in the VerbeekOlater and the angles are slightly off so I think this was a custom bolt that was made for this Rebline. It could be that Buzick had some of these bolts made after his relationship with Wintec ended. I think Wintec made the standard interchangeable front bolt system for Buzick since the Wintec guns used a similar system.
So cool Rebline and thanks to Mark for sharing this cool pump with me!
