A selection of videos taken across two different dates at this busy level crossing in Petersfield beside one of the Portsmouth Direct Line's most major stations. On the first date, the crossing was still being controlled from the adjacent signal box, which still stands to this day retained as an office, but between those two dates, this box closed and the crossing is now controlled via CCTV from Basingstoke by a human rather than a computerised obstacle detection system. Access to the signal box appears to have always been unsafe for the general public not officially qualified to walk trackside across the walking route, and that's why it's not being used for anything other than a lineside office for workers. During the works, the lone pedestrian signal was commissioned, as were a full signal and co-acting signal to allow trains to properly terminate here and turn back, and the sixth wigwag facing down Penns Road was removed entirely. Little change can be noted in the barrier down time.
