My 1981 123 front left electric window stopped working. Whilst the regulator was bent somewhat and replaced, I found the electric motor to be significantly underperforming and unable to lift the window past midway. What I did not realise is the front motors for a 123 use a larger cog, the rear doors use a smaller cog which is the same part as the 116. Although I had spare 116 motors, I couldn't simply swap it in as the attached cogs were too small for the front 123 doors. This is how I replaced the electric motor on my 123 with one from a 116. It may also just be helpful for you to see the internals of the electric motors which I think should be serviced for better and quieter performance.
