Death, the Devil, and Halloween Triple Series (Part 2, 6 of 9) If you want to know what “avant-garde metal” is, look no further; this is one of the most conceptually innovative acts I know of working today. Swiss multi-instrumentalist Manuel Gagneux started the band in 2014 with the question, “What if American slaves had embraced Satan instead of Jesus?” The result is a unique meshing of black metal and other genres. He did the vocals and all the instruments for the first full album, 2016’s “Devil is Fine,” and then with its success expanded to a full band. They’ve since released two more full albums and an EP. This video is a live version of the title track for that first album (but obviously with the full band).
