On Friday 22nd September 1944 during Operation Market Garden, the Germans launched an attack on Hell's Highway just north of Veghel. The 107th Panzer Brigade, part of Kampfgruppe Walther, unexpectedly reached Mariaheide, on the halfway point between Veghel and Uden.
Four men were caught up in this attack, being by chance at the wrong place on the wrong time and all four lost their lives.
This is their story.
