This is part 1 of a two-part video covering the construction of a "flying squirrel" shaped tobacco pipe from a briar burl.
This video covers creating the design in modeling clay, drilling the briar, and fitting the stem.
The pipemaking supplies in this video were purchased from Vermont Freehand, which I have found to be an excellent source for getting this kind of stuff (briar burl, stems, Delrin rod, bowl bits, etc.). If you're new to pipemaking (like I am), "PIMO's Guide to Pipe Crafting at Home" is a great book to start with, and it's also available at Vermont Freehand. I don't have any endorsement deal with VF - I'm just a happy customer.
