Protaras (pronounced Prot-o-ra) is a purpose built resort created in the 1980s after the Turks invaded the area of northern Cyprus in 1974 and the first holiday resort on the island, Famagusta.
The modern buses are operated by OSEA, formed in 2009 with the amalgamation of PEAL in Paralimni and EMAN of Ayia Napa. The vehicles are mostly Mercedes-Benz with Irizar i3 bodies.
