Relational Frame Theory (RFT) is one of the theoretical and behavioral science evidence bases for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In this 5th part of the crash course, I introduce 2 final concepts, those of Aversive vs. Appetitive Stimulus Control, and of Ironic Processes. Then, in a feat of courage or perhaps foolhardiness, I attempt to put together what we've learned in presenting a "model" or more accurately a sketchy notion of how dysthymia might work in RFT / Behavior Analysis / ACT terms. Did that succeed? I have no idea. However, it probably got across some idea of how RFT can enhance our understanding of how vicious, life-crushing spirals come to pass in common psychopathology, and what processes may come into play. This video concludes this "Crash Course in RFT", and brings new meaning to the word "Crash" in "Crash Course."
