A 25-hour journey to Bangkok, experimenting with film emulation on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

Almost 25 hours of travel to get from São Paulo to Bangkok. First was a 15-hour flight to Dubai, then a 4-hour layover, and finally another 6-hour flight to Bangkok. Long, tiring, but worth it. Coming back to Thailand, my fourth time in Bangkok, felt good. The city always has this way of making me feel at home.
This trip was also my first time using the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. My old camera, the BMPCC OG, didn’t survive the last shoot; the screen got wrecked on the final day of filming the train video. So, I grabbed the DJI for this trip and decided to experiment with it, trying to get that classic 16mm film vibe with more grain in the footage.
Honestly, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I know not everyone’s into the retro look anymore, but I like it. Sure, the DJI has its limits, the dynamic range isn’t great, but it’s so easy to use and super portable. It felt like it added a more personal touch to the whole process.
For now, it’s staying in the bag. It might not be perfect, but it gets the job done.
