Liam is the Provincial Coordinator of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas in British Columbia. There are currently 83 Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) in British Columbia and a network of over 60 Volunteer Caretakers who monitor, protect and promote them. He works jointly with BC Nature and Bird Studies Canada to support the protection of those sites and the volunteers who oversee them, lead collaboration with First Nations in involving them in the program, and help to continue to identify and designate areas of the province critical to wild bird populations. In this presentation, Liam will describe the IBA/KBA programs using examples from the Chilliwack, B.C. area.
