Rameswaram is one of the Dhams of 4 Dhams in India & also a jyotirlinga. In this video, you will see our “A Day in Rameswaram” in which we explored the famous Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple, Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple, Lakshmana Theertham.


Description of places visited by us on 15th Dec at Rameswaram.

Hotel in Rameswaram - We started our day in the morning at TTDC - Tamil Nadu government Hotel by doing a Data-copy work.

This property is at a prominent location in Rameswaram near Ramanathaswamy Temple.


Agni Theertham - We started our temple visit by having a holy bath at Agni Theertham.

22 Kund Bath - We entered in the temple to have a holy bath of 22 kunds from the North gate of Ramanathswamy Temple and exit with a South Gate.

In Rameswaram, it is believed that you need to take at least 22 well-baths to visit the temple.

Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple - After 22 kunds holy Bath we visited the temple. The main deity of the temple is Ramanathswamy (Lord Shiva). This temple is linked to the Indian Ramayana in which Lord Rama kills the Ravana who ruled the kingdom of Lanka.

After winning the epic battle in Lanka, Lord Rama while returning to his kingdom at Ayodhya wanted to worship Lord Shiva to liberate from his Karma as he killed a Brahmana during War.

So, Lord Rama worshipped here Lord Shiva from then the place it’s called
“Rameswaram”.

Ramanathaswamy Temple is also famous for its 1212 pillared corridor Height - 22 ft. and Width - 7.5 ft. which is believed to be the world’s largest corridor.

Pro Tip - It is feasible to book your accommodation near the Ramanathaswamy Temple so it will be convenient for you to change clothes after the holy bath or there is a place in the Temple complex itself where you can change the clothes.

Lunch at Ganesh Mess - We had our lunch with traditional south Indian thali at Ganesh Mess nearest landmark is the West Tower gate of the Temple.

Food Cost - South Indian Thali Rs 110

Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple - After lunch we travelled 1 km to reach at the Panchmukhi Hanuman temple. We had a darshan of Panchmukhi Hanuman Ji inside the Temple. We also noticed some floating stones in the Temple.

Lakshmana Theertham - After this, we visited the Lakshmana Theertham & had darshan of that old lingam which was worshipped by the Lord Lakshamana.

We also noticed a kund there which is known as a Lakshmana kund It is believed that before offering his prayers, Lord Lakshmana had taken a bath in this kund.

After this, we ended our day.
