Formed in early 2007 following a concert at the Royal Academy of Music, where all the members were studying at the time, the Fugata Quintet champion Nuevo Tango and pay homage to the genre's founder, Astor Piazzolla. The quintet recently performed a sold-out début concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall's Purcell Room, which Jon Snow described as an 'exceptional performance'. The musicians hail from the UK, Greece, Serbia and Armenia leading the Fugata Quintet to be an unusual marriage of musical personalities; classically-trained musicians with diverse musical passions who have been inspired by the ethnic melting pot of Astor Piazzolla's Buenos Aires.
