Dr.K.S.Ratnakar, after MBBS degree from Andhra University, Guntur Medical College, Joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for his post-graduate studies, MD in Pathology, under Professor V.Ramalingaswamy. During his residency, he was awarded, W.H.O. Scholarship and also Babha Atomic Energy fellowship. Later he joined AIIMS, New Delhi as Head of ocular Pathology and developed branch till 1979.He joined as Prof. and Head of the Department of Pathology, at M.R.Medical College, Gulbarga while he is still at 35 years of age. Later he joined as Prof and Head, Department of Pathology, Nizams, Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad(1986 to 2004).He was also Dean, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science from 1992 --1997. And now he is DIRECTOR-Global Medical Education and Research Foundation of Global Hospitals.

Recently, He was conferred with the prestigious award of “Dr.Shankar Benerjee Memorial Gold Medal award” for 2006 for distinguished services for the uplift of pathology”, Prof GovindaReddy Gold Medal Oration of NTR University (2209) Prof D.J.Reddy Gold Medal Oration (2011), Dr Sambrani memorial lecture, Gulbarga(2011),Dr G. Laksmipathi Memorial Lecture (2012) Padmabhushan Smt Avabai Gold Medal Oration 2013., Dr Aravind Memorial Oration, Chennai Medical College and Research center,Trichy,2014.
