Don't Believe It All, by Treble Charger! A great Canadian Rock/Punk band. This song is off Detox, their fifth studio album from 2002. The record was certified Gold in Canada and was nominated for "Rock Album of the Year" at the 2003 Juno Awards. Nice. This is a great song, with a super high Harmony that is a gas to sing. It makes the song for me.
These videos serve as lessons on how I play this bunch of Pop, Rock, and Reggae songs - sometimes as a single guitarist playing the only guitar part, though that's rare. And sometimes if there is more than one guitar part, then trying to find the single good path through the tune. I complete one pass, demonstrating different Rhythm parts, styles, and techniques. There is no talking. No discussion. No note-for-note explanations. As such, for clarity, my guitar is supposed to be louder in the mix than it would ever be in a live setting. But, if you really want to hear what I hear, do what I do and put on a good pair headphones with great bass response! It's worth it.
Why this is important to Rhythm Guitar:
Tone. This song is all about Rock tones. It's Pop. It's Punk. It's both. And because it's both, you need to dial in a Marshall stack-esque kind of tone. Big distortion, radically reduced bass frequencies. This is how you get that "chunk." But, reducing bass out of a Guitar is always the right choice if you want to sit in a band mix properly. It's great to have those frequencies when you are in your basement by yourself, but if you are in a band, those muddy the lower mids and compete with the Bass player. It sounds sooo bad.
So, don't do that.
Oh, and this is as fast as I can play the Guitar. And that's perfectly fine with me.
Also, it has the longest timed delay I ever videoed.
You'll know where...
