This is a Bee Gees song with lead vocals by Barry Gibb. It was released as a single in the 1969 album "Odessa" with "Lamplight" as its B-side. The song was partially responsible for Robin Gibb's brief departure from the Bee Gees, as he had wanted his song "Lamplight" to be the album's first single, while Barry had preferred "First of May". In 1971, "First of May" was featured in the soundtrack to the film "Melody".
