The Thypoch Simera 28mm f/1.4 is one of the best 28mm lenses I’ve used, now tested on the Nikon Z after first reviewing it on the Leica M10. It delivers stunning image quality with that coveted “3D pop,” rivaling the far more expensive Leica Summilux 28mm. Built from solid metal with a smooth, de-clickable aperture ring, precise focus, and a 14-blade diaphragm for creamy bokeh, it combines premium feel with thoughtful features like a vintage-style depth of field meter. Sharp to the corners with only mild vignetting, it’s also surprisingly affordable at around $650. Overall, I rate it a 9/10 — a lens that offers Leica-level character and performance at a fraction of the cost, making it an easy recommendation for Nikon Z and other supported mounts.
