Not TLDR
Journey, Reflect, Journey, Reflect
Repeat.
TLDR
This is my final choreo project for abbdcourse Edited by Justin Olivar who approached this with such great care and energy.
I wanted to make something that I was super proud of not because it was amazing and perfect, but because I gave it my all. (Naturally, it’d be really cool if it was perfect though cmon lol)
But thanks to the wisdom and generosity of others, I’ve been in a good mental dance zone where I’m really starting to understand the journey part (in my bones not just my brain) and how each piece of work is something that is a PART of that journey. I’ll probably forget at some point and have to relearn, but yay journey 😂
Since this song was in my dance imagination for so long, and at different parts of my journey, it became easy to reflect on how my relationship with dance and how my mindset has changed through the years.
Not a straight arrow going up, but a lot of peaks and valleys that don’t often feel great. But it sure has amazing views at different peaks to just sit and look at where you’ve been.
If you don’t care to look too deeply into this piece, it’s just me vibin to a dope song. The song is Take a Chance by Flume
If you do, there’s some stuff in this piece/performance that reflects some pretty personal stuff. Not too insanely deep, but like pretty deep. Kinda sorta really. Like past the crust and into the middle mantle of the earth. But not the core. Maybe some core. Idk. 🙂
Thank you
P.S.
If you get the chance and want to, whatever Sorah Yang does, try to be a part of it. She’s pushed me and everyone else to embrace who we are and what makes us unique. She isn’t the only person in the world that does it, but few match the genuine care and outright will and generosity of energy to get someone to be the best “them” they can be.
She talks the talk and walks that walk!
