The Towers Hospital in Leicester, an institution for people with mental illness for more than 140 years, closed its beds in 2000 and saw its last outpatients in 2013 marking the transition of mental health services to modern facilities. This film, presented by former members of staff was created as part of a Towers History project to preserve some of the the site's history. In it we seek to paint a picture of life in and around the hospital from its earliest days as the Borough Lunatic Asylum in 1869 up to its closure.
