These 5 reasons are usually at the core of why your kit feels weird. More often than not, the ultimate reason for discomfort at the drum set is awkward kit adjustment. A lot of times, we default to a certain placement, height, or angle of the instruments on our drum set, and we don’t always put enough thought into WHY we’re placing things where we’re placing them. The big, underlying point of today’s video is: “Be willing to experiment with your setup!” Start with the 5 reasons for discomfort mentioned, and make adjustments in those main areas. From there, experiment and try new placements until you find a setup that works for YOU. Ergonomics is a tricky subject, since every drummer is vastly different in terms of his or her actual setup. There are guidelines, but there aren’t a lot of “rights” or “wrongs.” Sometimes finding the perfect drum set setup is just a matter of trial and error. But I certainly hope to save you some of that, and I hope these tips today get you going on the right track.
