This toy store is closing, and everything inside is 50% off, so of course I had to stop back in for one more toy hunt.
I’m back at Primary Collectibles in Lincoln, Illinois for my first toy hunt of 2026. I visited this shop back in September and found some really cool stuff, including a vintage talking Masters of the Universe belt. This time around, the owner has brought in even more stock as he prepares to close the doors, so I figured this was the perfect excuse to swing by with my family and do some more digging.
Closing toy stores are always bittersweet. On one hand, it’s sad to see another physical shop disappear. On the other hand, there’s something exciting about digging through bins, uncovering forgotten treasures, and finding toys you haven’t thought about in decades—especially when everything is discounted.
In this video, I’m digging through bins filled with vintage and nostalgic toys, including Masters of the Universe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter, vintage Care Bears, DC Super Powers fast-food toys, rack toys, and all kinds of weird, wonderful, and unexpected collectibles. There’s a big focus on the kinds of toys that defined growing up in the ’80s and ’90s—especially the cheaper licensed rack toys you’d find near checkout lanes or in dollar stores.
One of my favorite finds of the day ended up being a bag full of vintage TMNT rack toys, complete with dart guns, squirt guns, Shredder and Rocksteady targets, and even a fake compass watch. These are the kinds of things that don’t always survive childhood, so finding a whole bag of them together felt like opening a time capsule.
There are also some fantastic surprises along the way, including vintage video game toys, long-forgotten kids meal figures, toy paperwork, mini comics, and one final Masters of the Universe puffy sticker album that absolutely made my day. That’s the kind of stuff I always hope to find when I go toy hunting—pieces of childhood nostalgia that still carry a lot of charm decades later.
Even though this physical location is closing, the owner will still be running toy conventions throughout the Midwest, so this isn’t the last time you’ll see his toys out in the wild. But while the shop is still open, there are plenty of deals to be found and a whole lot of digging to do.
If you enjoy toy hunting, vintage toys, nostalgic collectibles, and seeing what turns up when a toy store closes its doors, I think you’re really going to enjoy this one.
