Miguel Nieto warfare 5 fixed blade given some tough field use.
Surprising comfortable, held a very good edge, (why wouldn't it after all it is hardened to HRC 58-60).
Full grain leather scabbard, well stitched and riveted.
Forprene scales, great semi-butcher's looking blade shape, hollow ground, cuts very well. Nice rounded pommel easy to place palm into it without hurting hands.
The Forprene scales didn't quite perfectly cover the full tang (and it was a full tang, I did indeed remove the fixing bolts to check- see my blog on the Warfare 5). The scales of course did sit perfectly flush laterally with the tang and this was/is important in any knife. Although this (the scales not exactly mating the contours of the tang-we are talking like 1.25mm out- v small), for me in ungloved hands didn't seen to hinder it's performance or comfort in my hands. However, the knife is certainly within a "Budget knife" category. Being a budget knife however, does not mean it's a cheap as in a crap knife. The field testing of the Nieto Warfare 5 certainly proved to me it's a good knife.

The warfare 5 does come with Katex and micarta scales.
I never talk about price but Google this blade and you won't believe the cost of it. I was totally impressed with the Miguel Nieto Warfare 5. Maybe it could be right for you?
On a last note this blade can be placed (not that you should ever do this) on a surface and it will tend to stay where you put it because of the tacky nature of the forprene scales and as the knife fulcrum sits behind the guard, then that means the blade will not be touching a flat surface. ie your knife under some circumstances, will not slide off a rock into a crevice to be lost LOL.
