Our First Trip to Rome

Khalil and I ventured out of Naples for the first time this past weekend and had such a wonderful time! Rome was full of beautiful architecture and rich with history. We took the bus from Capodichino to Napoli Centrale and then took the train into the city of Roma. We stayed at B&B Domus Domas, which was the perfect walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see! On our second day there, we were lucky enough to meet up with Krizia and Augusto and their two children. They used to live in San Diego and knew one of Khalil’s old shipmates, but they had recently moved back to Italy to be closer to family. They said they knew what it was like being in a different country without family. They took us all around the city and basically gave us a private guided tour. As if that wasn’t enough, these generous people called their friend who works for the Vatican and let us skip the line to get inside. I have never seen anything so beautiful in all my life! Afterwards, they asked if we wanted to eat dinner in their hometown at their family’s restaurant. Of course, we said yes because all we ate that day was a croissant from the B&B lol. We rode with them into the town of Anzio and went to their family owned restaurant, Folliero. They actually used to have a food truck in San Diego! Augusto made us three pizzas on the house and they were DELICIOUS! We both felt so blessed (and so full) that we met them and still have no clue how we are going to repay them for such a great day. We were having so much fun with them that night that we missed our train to Napoli and ended up having to take the last train into Rome and stay an extra night. We rode out on the first train back to Napoli, however the bus to take us home didn’t arrive until 12:30pm that day. We spent the morning in the Capodichino food court until Khalil became delirious (as you will see towards the end of the video 😂). Even though our bodies were sore from all the walking and tired from the lack of sleep, we still feel like it was one of the most spectacular experiences we’ve ever had! (This is one of the first videos I’ve ever made, so it’s not exactly perfect!)
