This Yamaha Dirtbike Was supposed to be an easy fix.

This is the third bike from my three dirt bikes for $3000 deal — a 2008 Yamaha YZ250F, one of the best bikes Yamaha ever made and the first generation with an aluminum frame.
When I went to look at this bike, it ran perfect. Fired right up, sounded healthy, and seemed like the easy win of the three. The Kawasaki turned out to be a bike from hell, the Honda CRF needed a full engine rebuild… so naturally I thought this one would be different.
Spoiler: it wasn’t.
After getting it home, the YZ became hard to start, wouldn’t idle, and clearly had something going on. In this video, I tackle the obvious issues first — replacing some worn cosmetic parts, installing a new clutch cable, and tearing into the carburetor to see what’s really going on inside.
The big question is simple:
👉 Is this just an easy carb fix… or is this bike headed for a rebuild?
We’ll clean it, fix what’s broken, and see if this YZ250F earns its place as the survivor of the $3000 dirt bike deal — or if it joins the rebuild list.
Stick around to find out if it fires up… or breaks my heart.
