Here's another sound level test between three fans: the Noctua, a Delta, and a Foxconn. The server fans are 38mm thick so they generally move a little more air and develop higher static pressure than the Noctua, but they are also a lot louder within a given rpm range (800 - 1,250). The A12x25 is an incredibly well-engineered fan that can spin relatively fast and remain very quiet.
The noise floor in the room for testing was a little over 31 dB(A), meaning that the Noctua at 1,000rpm wasn't picked up at all by the meter at a distance of 25cm.
