Shirui Kashong is popularly known for its unique flower generally known as ‘Shirui Lily’. The majestic flower was discovered by an English Botanist Kingdon F. Ward in 1946 and introduced it to the world by bagging the prestigious merit prize in the 1948 Royal Horticulture Society Flower in London. The Shirui Lily (Lilium Macklinae sealy) is unique and rare because it comprises of seven different colors when seen under a microscope and it cannot be transplanted anywhere in the world even under intensive care.
The Shirui Lily is located at Shirui village, Ukhrul district, Manipur State, India. It is 15 kilometers from Ukhrul headquarter and the National Highway 150 stretching from Imphal to Kohima via Jessami passes through the village settlement.
