Giro d'Italia Stage 14 Highlights - 27% Gradients On The Monte Zoncolan!

From the easiest stage of this year’s race to one of the hardest, the riders will head deep into the Dolomites to tackle the mighty Monte Zoncolan on stage 14. This mythical climb will fall at the end of a 205km-long stage that features two more categorised climbs - the Castello di Caneva and Forcella Monte Rest. Both of these early climbs pale in comparison to the Zoncolan, one of Italy’s most feared mountain passes.

The riders will approach the climb from the Sutrio side this year, rather than from Ovaro as they’ve often done in the past. The climb is still a brute however, averaging 8.5% for 14.1 grueling kilometres. The last 3km are the most excruciating and where the infamous 27% ramps rear their ugly heads. This is the stage that will separate the contenders from the pretenders and really highlight the select few who could go on to win this year’s race.
